How It Works

How Our Testicular Cancer Surgery Works

Early detection and surgical treatment of testicular cancer significantly improve long-term outcomes. At Valiant Clinic, we provide expert-led, precision surgery to remove cancer while prioritizing patient well-being, post-surgical recovery, and long-term health. Our team ensures a streamlined process from diagnosis to aftercare.

Comprehensive Diagnosis and Staging

Accurate diagnosis is essential for effective treatment. We perform thorough evaluations, including ultrasound imaging, blood tests for tumor markers, and CT scans, to determine the stage and spread of the cancer. This allows us to plan the most effective surgical approach.

Precision Tumor Removal

For most cases, a radical inguinal orchiectomy is performed, where the affected testicle is surgically removed through a small incision in the groin. This procedure is highly effective in eliminating localized cancer and preventing further spread.

Advanced Lymph Node Dissection (If Needed)

In cases where the cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes, a retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND) may be performed. This meticulous procedure helps prevent recurrence while preserving surrounding nerves and minimizing complications.

Minimally Invasive and Rapid Recovery

Whenever possible, we use minimally invasive techniques to reduce scarring, post-surgical discomfort, and recovery time. Most patients can return to normal activities within a few weeks with proper post-operative care.

Ongoing Monitoring and Survivorship Care

After surgery, we provide long-term follow-up care, including regular tumor marker tests, imaging scans, and consultations to monitor recovery and ensure cancer does not return. Our team also offers fertility preservation guidance and supportive care for overall well-being.

Are you suited for testicular cancer surgery?

Who is Testicular Cancer Surgery Recommended For?

Recommended for
Patients with Confirmed Testicular Cancer

Surgery is the primary treatment for patients diagnosed with testicular cancer. A radical orchiectomy is performed to remove the affected testicle, preventing the cancer from spreading.

Recommended for
Men with Suspicious Testicular Tumors

If imaging and biopsy results indicate the presence of a potentially cancerous tumor, surgical removal is recommended to ensure early treatment and reduce the risk of progression.

Recommended for
Cases of Recurrent or Spreading Cancer

For patients whose cancer has returned or spread to nearby lymph nodes, additional surgical procedures such as lymph node dissection may be necessary to prevent further complications and improve long-term survival.

Testicular Cancer Surgery FAQ’s

Testicular cancer surgery, known as radical inguinal orchiectomy, involves removing the affected testicle and spermatic cord through an incision in the groin. This procedure is the primary treatment for testicular cancer and helps prevent the spread of malignant cells.

Diagnosis typically begins with a physical examination, followed by imaging tests such as scrotal ultrasound to detect abnormalities. Blood tests measuring tumor markers like alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) assist in diagnosis. If cancer is suspected, a radical inguinal orchiectomy is performed to confirm the diagnosis and remove the tumor.

Bilateral removal is uncommon and usually considered only if cancer is present in both testicles or if there's a high risk of cancer developing in the remaining testicle.

Recovery varies by individual. Initial healing may take a few weeks, with full recovery spanning 2 to 4 months.

Removing one testicle typically doesn't cause infertility, as the remaining testicle can produce sufficient sperm. However, if both are removed, natural conception isn't possible.

Most men maintain normal sexual function and hormone levels after removal of one testicle. Regular follow-ups are essential to monitor for potential recurrence.
