Burnout typically affects people who are highly committed to their work and effective in their job. Burnout may show up as exhaustion, low energy, loss of motivation, nervousness, and irritation, or as a lack of focus, inability to work for extended periods of time, and a tendency to question and cancel everything in sight. You may notice that you’re not eating or sleeping well and that your relationships and effectiveness are suffering.
Burnout is often a mixture of professional exhaustion, and disillusionment with other people, the organization, or the career, over the long term. More specifically, it’s defined as state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by long term involvement in emotionally and cognitively demanding situations as well as a state of fatigue or frustration brought about by devotion to a cause, way of life, or relationship that failed to produce the expected reward.
To avoid burnout, the following suggestions have shown to be the most effective:

  • Work with purpose
  • Perform a job analysis and eliminate ordelegate unnecessary work
  • Include daily activities of achievement, pleasure, and emotional closeness (and dedicate them equal time/priority)
  • Get more daily exercise (even if just 10mins of walking and/or streching two
times a day), create a sleep routine and take breaks to mindfully enjoy your meals
  • Learn how to manage stress
  • Learn how to set professional andpersonal boundaries
  • Seek the advice of an appropriate health professional

The bottom line: The best way to recover from burnout--or, better yet, to avoid it--is
to learn how to be good and take care of yourself in several dimensions. Try training with a personal trainer in Dubai or other physical activity during your day. It takes constant awareness, reflection, and practice, but when you do it, you will reap the reward of a significant better and meaningful life.
