When Should You See a Pulmonologist?

Make an appointment with us if you experience problems regarding any of the following:

  • Chronic cough (cough lasting more than 8 weeks)
  • Coughing up blood (hemoptysis),
  • Loud snoring and sleep apnea
  • Difficulty in breathing at rest or exercise
  • Wheezing (a whistling sound made while breathing)
  • Cigarette smoking cessation
  • Abnormal chest radiology
  • Abnormal respiratory function (spirometry)
  • Aviation personnel with any respiratory condition.

Common Pulmonary Conditions:

  • Respiratory infections (acute bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis)
  • Asthma
  • Respiratory allergy
  • Chronic bronchitis, emphysema, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
  • Cigarette smoke dependence
  • Bronchiectasis (structural distortion of the airways)
  • Lung cancer or pulmonary nodules of unknown origin
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Interstitial lung diseases (fibrosis of the lungs)
  • Pleural diseases (pneumothorax, pleural effusion)
  • Sleep breathing disorders, like snoring and sleep apnea
